About Golden Steps

We are a cooperative of well-trained home companions that walk alongside men and women in their Golden Age. We handle their daily non-medical tasks and help them to get around step-by-step, keeping them safe and caring for them as if they were family.

Since we are worker-owned, we seek to provide high quality service at an affordable price to allow those we serve to lead safer and happier lives at home, giving them the comfort of knowing that they are not alone and their loved ones the peace-of-mind that they are in good hands.

Lilian Hernandez

My name is Lilian Hernandez and I became a Golden steps member in 2022. Working as a caregiver has given me the chance to give to the community and be there for those who need me the most. I have learned so much ever since I started working at Golden steps and I am eager to learn more and more each day.

I am committed, caring and hard working. In the near future I see myself being more involved in the community by being part of different groups/committees so I can keep educating myself. I want to continue to make a difference in someone’s life.

I am originally from Panama City and have lived in New York City for many years. I have been a member of the Golden Steps cooperative since 2016. I enjoy my job as a caregiver because I am a very compassionate person and the fact that I am able to help someone makes me very happy. In my free time I like to listen to music, travel and visit new places.

As a woman entrepreneur, I feel fortunate to be part of a group of empowered women who, with lots of effort and commitment, formed part of a business together.

I joined the Great Team of Golden Steps in 2016. I am a caregiver, and I feel wonderfully doing this labor because a caregiver transmits daily love, company, moral support, comprehension, understanding, affection, physical help, and other positive qualities to those who are living their golden age, and this is the precise stage of our lives that we need sympathy of our congeners.

All these qualities that we can give impulse me the constant wish to improve my attention and cared for the person(s) I accompany and together walk through of way of this age of life.

I love working with seniors because I helped my grandmother a lot when I was little. Later, I had the opportunity to care for my friend for 10 years who had dementia.

After that experience, I felt it was something I wanted to do.

I offer loving, respectful, kind, and responsible care.
